Healthy Caesar Dressing

This healthy Caesar dressing recipe has a Greek yogurt base. Creamy, tangy, and easy to make, it's SO much better than any store-bought salad dressing!

Healthy Caesar dressing

This healthy Caesar dressing recipe is just as creamy and tangy as a traditional Caesar dressing, but it’s higher in protein and not quite as rich. The trick is that I make it with Greek yogurt in place of the classic raw egg yolks and oil (or mayonnaise).

This healthy Caesar dressing is also anchovy-free. I add finely chopped capers instead. The capers make this dressing entirely vegetarian but still add the salty, briny flavor I crave in anything Caesar.

This dressing is easy to make with 7 simple ingredients. You don’t need to haul out the food processor or blender to mix it up! Just stir it together and enjoy on salads, wraps, and more.

Healthy Caesar dressing recipe ingredients

Dressing Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this healthy Caesar dressing:

  • Whole milk Greek yogurt – It gives the dressing its creamy texture and adds a punch of tangy flavor. Bonus: it sneaks in some protein too!
  • Extra-virgin olive oil – It adds richness and loosens the thick Greek yogurt.
  • Fresh lemon juice – For brightness.
  • Dijon mustard – It adds tangy flavor.
  • Fresh garlic – For sharp, savory bite.
  • Capers – With their salty, briny flavor, capers perfectly replace the anchovies and Worcestershire sauce in a classic Caesar dressing.
  • And freshly ground black pepper – To give the dressing a peppery kick!

How to Make Healthy Caesar Dressing

This recipe is super simple to make!

Finely mince the capers and grate the garlic on a microplane zester.

Then, add the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, garlic, capers, and several grinds of pepper to a bowl and stir to combine.

  • Tip: If you use very thick Greek yogurt, such as Fage, you may need to add a little water or extra oil to thin the dressing to a creamy, drizzleable consistency.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

How to Use Healthy Caesar Dressing

I love to toss this healthy Caesar dressing with romaine lettuce, croutons, and shaved Parmesan cheese to make a classic Caesar salad. Here are a few more ways I like to use it:

  • On any salad. Toss it with my kale Caesar salad or a simple green salad, for example.
  • As a dip. Serve it with crisp veggies like carrots, celery, or bell peppers.
  • On a wrap. Try it on these healthy lunch wraps!

How to Store

Store leftover dressing in an airtight container or jar in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Love this dressing! Made it with regular European style yogurt from Trader Joe’s and used four garlic cloves – we like a lot of garlic:) added a small capful of red wine vinegar. It was fantastic. Thank you!

Great dressing. I did a little more oil and lemon to thin a thicker Greek yogurt, and it was wonderful. I also added polenta croutons to the salad, and it was a hit.
